How we choose

How Hey Small Space researches, compares, writes, and updates product reviews and compact-living guidance.

Our research process

We begin with a clearly defined small-space problem, such as limited floor area, awkward storage, or the need for one item to serve several purposes. We review manufacturer specifications, product documentation, owner feedback, and comparable alternatives before deciding which products deserve closer attention.

What we compare

Our comparisons prioritize measurements, required clearance, storage footprint, versatility, materials, maintenance, warranty information, and value. A product that works in a large room is not automatically a good recommendation for a compact home.

Testing and evidence

We do not claim hands-on testing unless an article says exactly what was tested and how. When recommendations are based on desk research, specifications, or reported owner experience, we describe them that way and avoid presenting assumptions as observations.

Updates and corrections

We revisit articles when product availability, specifications, or better alternatives change. The “Last updated” date on an article reflects a meaningful editorial revision. If you spot an error or a material change, please contact us.
