How induction heats, and where the energy goes
The pan itself becomes the heater, which is why a zone does nothing without compatible cookware on it. Caring for the glass top
Glass-ceramic tops scratch and crack, and ENERGY STAR advises against scouring sponges on the glass. Dropped or roughly dragged heavy cookware can also damage the surface, so lift pots rather than slide them and keep abrasives away from the top. Little residual heat helps here too. A forgotten utensil left on the glass is far less likely to melt onto it than it would on an element that stays hot for minutes after the pan leaves.
