Those measurements help you compare products, but they do not by themselves predict how much light reaches a particular counter or wall. Cut only at the manufacturer's marked cut lines. Those marks identify the ends of individual circuits. LED strip versus rope light

An LED strip is a flat, flexible circuit board with discrete LEDs and designated cut or connection points. The names can appear interchangeable in retail listings, so check the product specifications, cross-section, cut instructions, and mounting hardware.

The difference matters in a compact installation. A flat strip can sit closer to the underside of a cabinet or inside a shallow channel.
